The Ruby-Throated Hummingbird ranges over most of Eastern North America and frequents gardens and feeders. With its irridescent green crown and deep red throat it will be attracted to your yard by coral honeysuckle, jewelweed or coneshaped red flowers and sugar water (not colored!) The hum of its wings can clearly be heard even at some distance. Its nest, built with soft plant down, milkweed thistles and bound with spider webs looks like a knot on a branch.
This exquisite carving shows the hummingbird with its delicate wings spread. It is suspended in a flower on a wire stand and can be easily removed from the flower (or glued in, if you choose.)
All of our life-size birds are hand-carved from basswood (a very carveable wood that does not split and takes paint well), hand-feathered to show detail and painted with acrylic paint. The eyes are glass, feet are metal and base is wood.
The hummingbird carving measures 5 inches from beak to tail, is 2.75 inches high and with the stand has an overall height of 10.5 inches.

I really love this hummingbird! The open wing pose is fantastic and the flower base is a delight. Yet another great bird.Duncan Brown
