Great Kiskadee

The Great Kiskadee can be spotted on a sunny perch drying its feathers waiting to dive into the water after a small fish or aquatic insect. It is an energetic bird with a loud raucous call which carries a great distance.  A bold black and white striped head and yellow underparts are set off by its rufous wings and tail.  

All of our life-size birds are hand-carved from basswood (a very carveable wood that does not split and takes paint well), hand-feathered to show detail and painted with acrylic paint. The eyes are glass, feet are metal and base is wood.

The great kiskadee carving measures 8.5 inches from beak to tail, is 3.5 inches high and has an overall height of 7.75 inches.
