Blue Macaw
Blue Macaw
The blue-Throated Macaw, one of the rarest parrots in the world, is a large and colorful bird native to Bolivia. This magnificent and intelligent bird with its bright turquoise and yellow feathers is plentiful in captivity but endangered in the wild and now protected by trading prohibitions. It is a very social bird that bonds well with humans and has a great ability to talk.
The carving is brightly painted to show off its brilliant colors and is mounted on a wooden branch. The bird measures 13 inches from head to tail, has a depth of 7 inches and, including the mount, has an overall height of 14.5 inches. All of our life-sized birds are hand-carved from basswood (a very carvable wood that does not split and takes paint well), hand-feathered to show texture and detail and painted with acrylic paint. The eyes are glass, feet are metal and base is wood.
