Winter Wren

The Winter Wren is the smallest songbird found throughout North America and is the only wren found in Europe. When excited it will sing a 7 second song with over a hundred notes. It has been known to approach humans for a handout of bread crumbs.

 All of our life-size birds are hand-carved from basswood (a very carveable wood that does not split and takes paint well), hand-feathered to show detail and painted with acrylic paint. The eyes are glass, feet are metal and base is wood.

The carving of the winter wren measures 2.25 inches high,  3.5 inches from beak to tail, and has an overall height of 4.25 inches.
