Song Sparrow

 Found throughout North America, the Song Sparrow is easy to spot as it trills its pleasant melody while pumping its tail up and down.  Upper feathers are streaked brown or grey and underparts are whitish. 

The song sparrow measures 5 1/4 inches from beak to tail, is 2 1/4 inches high and the carving has an overall height of 4 3/4 inches.

All of our life-sized birds are hand-carved from basswood (a very carveable wood that does not split and takes paint well), hand-feathered to show detail and painted with acrylic paint. The eyes are glass, feet are metal and base is wood.
