The majestic Red Winged Blackbird surprises when it reveals its bright red wing patch hidden under its black feathers. Found in fields, thickets and marshes, it will aggressively defend its territory from intruders. This is a very realistic carving that shows beautiful feathered details and is perched on a bamboo mount.
The bird measures 8.5 inches from beak to tail and is 5.5 inches high; including the mount it has an overall height of 10.75 inches. All of our life-sized birds are hand-carved from basswood (a very carvable wood that does not split and takes paint well), hand-feathered to show texture and detail and painted with acrylic paint. The eyes are glass, feet are metal and base is wood.
