Mountain Bluebird

The Mountain Bluebird has brilliant blue feathers. It makes its home in western mountains of North America but can be found during winter migration along the eastern seaboard. It nests in the cavities of large old trees or in bird boxes and forages for insects and earthworms on the ground. 

The Mountain Bluebird measures 7.5 inches from tip of bill to the tail, is 4 inches high and the overall measurement including the stump is 6.5 inches.  All of our life-sized birds are hand-carved from basswood (a very carveable wood that does not split and takes paint well), hand-feathered to show detail and painted with acrylic paint. The eyes are glass, feet are metal and base is wood.
