The carving of the house finch shows off its bright orangey-red breast...the redder the better, say the female finches! One of the most prevalent birds in North America, it forages for insects, seeds and fruit in arid scrub, wooded canyons, woodlands and possibly even your own backyard. It loves maple syrup!
All of our life-sized birds are hand-carved from basswood (a very carveable wood that does not split and takes paint well), hand-feathered to show detail and painted with acrylic paint. The eyes are glass, feet are metal and base is wood.
The House Finch measures 5.25 inches from beak to tail, is 2.75 inches high and has an overall height of 4.75 inches.
