The Downy Woodpecker is found in woodlots, orchards and forests almost throughout the United States and Canada and is our smallest woodpecker. It is distinguished by its small size (approx. 7 inches), white back and red patch on the head. The carving is mounted on a wooden tree stump. The carving has an overall height of 8 1/2 inches.
All of our life-size birds are hand-carved from basswood (a very carveable wood that does not split and takes paint well), hand-feathered to show detail and painted with acrylic paint. The eyes are glass, feet are metal and base is wood.

I am happy with the bird. I received it in excellent condition and the coloring and details of the bird were realistic.Ed Keller
