Cordon Bleu

The Cordon Bleu is one of the most exotic finches.  Weighing less than 4 ounces, it is found in many African countries. It inhabits subtropical or tropical savannahs and grasslands feeding on grass seeds, millet and occasionally beeswax.  A peaceful, quiet bird with soft blue and brown coloring, it is often kept as a cage bird in cooler climates.

All of our life-size birds are hand-carved from basswood (a very carveable wood that does not split and takes paint well), hand-feathered to show texture and detail and painted with acrylic paint. The eyes are glass and feet are copper.The base is wood.

The Cordon Bleu carving measures 4.75 inches and has an overall height of 5.5 inches.
