Cedar Waxwing
Description
Cedar Waxwing
The Cedar Waxwing is a social bird that travels in large flocks. Occasionally, it overeats on ripe fruit so that it cannot fly. The carving shows the red wax-like tips on the wings and is mounted on a tree branch with a mossy base. The carving measures 6.5 inches from beak to tail, and has an overall height of 7.5 inches.
All of our life-sized birds are hand-carved from basswood (a very carveable wood that does not split and takes paint well), hand-feathered to show detail and painted with acrylic paint. The eyes are glass, feet are metal and base is wood.
