Snow Bunting
SNOW BUNTING
Seen from below the snow bunting looks like a large snowflake. It can survive temperatures as low as -58 and will sometimes tunnel in snow banks to keep warm. Found globally in Arctic areas it is a common bird that shows little fear of humans often nesting around buildings and feeding on grains or scraps put out for it.
All of our life-size birds are hand-carved from basswood (a very carveable wood that does not split and takes paint well), hand-feathered to show texture and detail and painted with acrylic paint. The eyes are glass and feet are copper. The base is wood.
The Snow Bunting carving measures 5.5 inches from beak to tail, 3.75 inches from head to foot and has an overall height of 5 inches.
