Owls, Game Birds, Birds of Prey
The common tern is a graceful, small gull-like bird, white with a pale gray mantle and black cap. Found in both Northern and Southern Hemispheres it inhabits the shorelines of oceans and bays and nests colonially on sandy beaches and small islands.
This carving of the tern is perched on a wooden stump. Slightly smaller than life-size, the carving measures 10.5 inches long, 6 inches high and has an overall height of 9.5 inches.
All of our life-sized birds are hand-carved from basswood (a very carveable wood that does not split and takes paint well), hand-feathered to show detail and painted with acrylic paint. The eyes are glass, feet are metal and base is wood.

The Tern is beautiful. Very life-like and nice detail. I will be ordering more birds as they become available.Kathie
