Ring-Billed Gull
Ring-Billed Gull
The RING-BILLED GULL is easily identified by its soft gray uppers, white underparts and the obvious black band on its yellow bill. A very common gull, its numbers are expanding due to its ability to adapt to changes in its habitat and its active gathering of food including scavenging after farm plows and boats. The carving is a beautiful replica of this seabird.
All of our birds are hand-carved from basswood (a very carveable wood that does not split and takes paint well), hand-feathered to show detail and painted with acrylic paint. The eyes are glass, feet are metal and base is wood.
Smaller than life-size, the carving measures approximately 10 inches long, 6 inches high and, including the wooden piling on which it is perched, has an overall height of 9.5 inches.
