Sharp-Shinned Hawk

 The Sharp-Shinned Hawk is a blur of motion as it seeks its prey of mice or other birds.  A small, acrobatic hawk it builds its nest up to   60 feet high deep in conifer woods.  It has a slate blue-gray back and is marked with orange bars across its chest.

This striking life-size carving of the Sharp-Shinned Hawk has an overall height of 15 inches with the bird measuring 11.5 inches.  Mounted on a wooden tree stump, it is highly detailed with exquisite painting and texturing.

All of our birds are hand-carved from basswood (a very carveable wood that does not split and takes paint well), hand-feathered to show detail and painted with acrylic paint. The eyes are glass, feet are metal and base is wood.
