Scarlet Tanager

The male scarlet tanager is unique with its vivid scarlet plumage, black wings and tail. Look high in the tree tops to see this brightly-colored bird singing loudly to defend his territory or feeding on caterpillars and berries.

All of our life-sized birds are hand-carved from basswood (a very carveable wood that does not split and takes paint well), hand-feathered to show detail and painted with acrylic paint. The eyes are glass, feet are metal and base is wood.

The tanager measures 6.75 inches from head to tail; is 4 inches high and has an overall height of 6.25 inches.
