Rose-Breasted Grosbeak
The Rose-Breasted Grosbeak sings a constant clear, sweet song.This carving shows the bird's black upperparts, white underparts and the bright rosy triangular patch on its chest. It is mounted on a mossy wood tree stump. It is slightly smaller than life-size.
All of our birds are hand-carved from basswood (a very carveable wood that does not split and takes paint well), hand-feathered to show detail and painted with acrylic paint. The eyes are glass, feet are metal and base is wood. The rose-breasted grosbeak measures 6 inches from beak to tail, is 3 inches high and the carving has an overall height of 5.5 inches.
