Red Bellied Woodpecker
Description
Red Bellied Woodpecker
The Red-Bellied Woodpecker is common to eastern forests in the United States from southern pine forests to northern hardwoods and makes its home in tree cavities. It is barred with a black and white zebra pattern, a jaunty red crown and a wash of red on its belly.
All of our life-sized birds are hand-carved from basswood (a very carvable wood that does not split and takes paint well), hand-feathered to show detail and texture and painted with acrylic paint. The eyes are glass, feet are metal and base is wood.
The bird measures approximately 8 inches from beak to tail with an overall height of 10.5 inches.
