RED SHOULDERED HAWK

The Red-Shouldered Hawk has a brownish head, rust-colored chest, pale underparts and a long tail marked with narrow white bars. Its  rust-colored shoulders can be easily seen as it perches on forest branches waiting to swoop down and surprise its prey. Like most hawks they have sharp vision and good hearing. The intricate painting on this hawk is exquisite!

All of our birds are hand-carved from basswood (a very carveable wood that does not split and takes paint well), hand-feathered to show texture and detail and painted with acrylic paint. The eyes are glass, feet are metal and base is wood.

The red-shouldered hawk carving measures 9.25 inches from head to tail and 7 inches from the head to the top of the base. The carving has an overall height of 13 inches.
