Kirtlands Warbler
Kirtlands Warbler
One of the rarest warblers, the tiny Kirtlands warbler is the only gray warbler with yellow underparts that constantly pumps its tail up and down, flashing white spots in the tail corners. It nests only near jack pines and has a loud, bubbly song. This carving is perched on a wooden stump.
All of our life-sized birds are hand-carved from basswood (a very carveable wood that does not split and takes paint well), hand-feathered to show detail and painted with acrylic paint. The eyes are glass, feet are metal and base is wood.
