House Wren with Open Beak on Metal Leaf Stand
House Wren with Open Beak on Metal Leaf Stand
The House Wren, an enegetic and somewhat tame small brown bird, sings a beautiful, trilling flutelike melody. You may find this bird building its nest anywhere from nesting boxes to boots, buckets, toolboxes or even in coat pockets.
The carving of the wren is 5 inches from beak to tail and is 2.5 inches wide with an overall height of 6 inches. It is carved in detail and even the inside of the open beak is carved. It is mounted on a beautiful metal stand embellished with graceful rust-colored leaves.
All of our life-sized birds are hand-carved from basswood (a very carveable wood that does not split and takes paint well), hand-feathered to show texture and detail and painted with acrylic paint. The eyes are glass, feet are metal and base is wood.
