Kingfisher
The Kingfisher is a magnificent carving which shows off its beautiful blue-gray coloring and feathered detail. A large headed bird with a shaggy crest, it is found throughout the entire North American continent with the exception of the most northern regions. It is a thrill to watch this solitary bird hunting along waterways and from a twenty-foot perch plunging headfirst into the water in search of fish. This is a large and magnificent carving approximately 11 inches long and is mounted on a branch embellished with green metal leaves. The carving is also available without the leaves.
All of our life-sized birds are hand-carved from basswood (a very carveable wood that does not split and takes paint well), hand-feathered to show detail and painted with acrylic paint. The eyes are glass, feet are metal and base is wood.
