Black Backed Gull 

The Greater Black-Backed Gull majestically soars through the air on currents of wind. Found mainly along the North Atlantic coasts or on large lakes, it winters to the mid-Atlantic states and even to the Mediterranean. Easily identifiable, it has a black back and wings and snow-white underparts.

All of our birds are hand-carved from basswood (a very carveable wood that does not split and takes paint well), hand-feathered to show detail and painted with acrylic paint. The eyes are glass, feet are metal and base is wood.

Slightly smaller than life-size, the carving is 10.5 inches long from beak to tail, is 6 inches high and, mounted on a wood piling, it has an overall height of 9.5 inches.
